These scale tones may replace the natural scale tones, or they may be added to the scale, as in the case of the minor blues scale, in which the flattened third replaces the natural third, the flattened seventh replaces the natural seventh and the flattened fifth is added between the natural fourth and natural fifth. These specialized notes are called the blue or bent notes. In melody, blues is distinguished by the use of the flattened third, fifth and seventh of the associated major scale. For convenience or by necessity it is often approximated by a minor seventh interval or a dominant seventh chord. At a 7:4 ratio, it is not close to any interval on the conventional Western diatonic scale. Blues seven chords add to the harmonic chord a note with a frequency in a 7:4 ratio to the fundamental note. The use of the harmonic seventh interval is characteristic of blues and is popularly called the "blues seven". Much of the time, some or all of these chords are played in the harmonic seventh (7th) form. The lyrics generally end on the last beat of the tenth bar or the first beat of the 11th bar, and the final two bars are given to the instrumentalist as a break the harmony of this two-bar break, the turnaround, can be extremely complex, sometimes consisting of single notes that defy analysis in terms of chords. The last chord is the dominant (V) turnaround, marking the transition to the beginning of the next progression. For instance, for a blues in the key of C, C is the tonic chord (I) and F is the subdominant (IV). They are labeled by Roman numbers referring to the degrees of the progression. The blues chords associated to a twelve-bar blues are typically a set of three different chords played over a 12-bar scheme. The basic 12-bar lyric framework of a blues composition is reflected by a standard harmonic progression of 12 bars in a 4/4 time signature. Idiosyncratic numbers of bars are also encountered occasionally, as with the 9-bar progression in " Sitting on Top of the World" by Walter Vinson. There are also 16-bar blues, as in Ray Charles's instrumental "Sweet 16 Bars" and in Herbie Hancock's " Watermelon Man". Other chord progressions, such as 8-bar forms, are still considered blues examples include " How Long Blues", " Trouble in Mind", and Big Bill Broonzy's " Key to the Highway". With the popularity of early performers, such as Bessie Smith, use of the twelve-bar blues spread across the music industry during the 1920s and 30s. During the first decades of the 20th century blues music was not clearly defined in terms of a particular chord progression. The blues form is a cyclic musical form in which a repeating progression of chords mirrors the call and response scheme commonly found in African and African-American music. In lyrics the phrase is often used to describe a depressed mood. Though the use of the phrase in African-American music may be older, it has been attested to since 1912, when Hart Wand's " Dallas Blues" became the first copyrighted blues composition. The term "the blues" refers to the "blue devils", meaning melancholy and sadness an early use of the term in this sense is found in George Colman's one-act farce Blue Devils (1798). In the 1960s and 1970s, a hybrid form called blues-rock evolved. World War II marked the transition from acoustic to electric blues and the progressive opening of blues music to a wider audience, especially white listeners. Best known are the Delta, Piedmont, Jump and Chicago blues styles. Blues can be subdivided into several subgenres ranging from country to urban blues that were more or less popular during different periods of the 20th century. The blues genre is based on the blues form but possesses other characteristics such as specific lyrics, bass lines and instruments. The blue notes that, for expressive purposes are sung or played flattened or gradually bent (minor 3rd to major 3rd) in relation to the pitch of the major scale, are also an important part of the sound. The blues form, ubiquitous in jazz, rhythm and blues, and rock and roll is characterized by specific chord progressions, of which the twelve-bar blues chord progression is the most common. Late 19th century, southern United Statesīlues is the name given to both a musical form and a music genre that originated in African-American communities of primarily the " Deep South" of the United States around the end of the 19th century from spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts and chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads. A lot of the things you mentioned could not be well predicted as I only got a small amount of time in the closed beta before release, and they didn’t try very hard to update the balance of things afterward. None of those were touched upon, instead the biggest overhaul decided to focus on Ȕber-dungeons requiring at least 50% damage resistance which means the flat armor system failed to deliver its defensive layer just like GD and new classes, of which only necromancer looked useful, because there is no “minion spam” class in a non-modded game just like GD. Basically IAS was only applicable to basic attacks, while everything else is a “magic” attack, even if the character visibly shoots from a big fucking gun. My biggest gripes with TL2 were two things: screenwide AoE hits as a main source of death and the imbalance between IAS/FCR skills. Hell even just endorsing a great mod every now and then…Īnyone if Crate doesn’t do it I’m sure the community will!īut to be quite honest, none of the TL2 mods went balls deep into changing the game, akin to Median for D2. The mods will be balanced together and accordingly and over time mods will be kicked and new ones added. The mods are now “official” so instead of feeling like you’re playing in an unlimited sandbox, one is playing in the restricted world that is so important for an RPG. This encourages those creators to continue to update those mods, and it gives the user base a “common core” to focus on. Then eventually Crate gathers up the best of the best and endorses them, stickies them, even advertises them (through game client). This wouldn’t occur for a while until the community had started finishing its first few mods. I think the developers at Crate should do 1 very simple thing that would greatly increase the longevity of the game through mods.īasically it’s a mod pack - of high quality, compatible mods that Crate has officially gone “Yep these are great mods”. If you got extended items mod with a level cap mod, the game was now broken. If you got a rebalance mod, with a new class mod the game was now broken. Then 99% of the other mods where incomplete and conflicted with each other. They had 1 developer endorsed mod that was really popular - respec potion. So I rather like the idea of supporting commands that we see in the wild. wfview’s rigctld server (thank you Phil!!!) is a more advanced method of control compared to the pseudo-term, because we can properly rate-limit traffic to the radio and cache recent results (recent being a few ms). Our implementation of rigctld is interesting, we’re trying to support common commands although there are many (such as thins one) that we hadn’t encountered yet. Your screenshot is good, this will be helpful to others trying to make this connection. Is sending CW via typing in CQRLog a fairly common thing people do? How does the experience compare to sending via fldigi’s modulated CW? This is very interesting indeed! I’m not a CW op (yet?), so let me see if I understand the mode of operation correctly: You send CQ (or other CW traffic) by sending the characters to the radio over CI-V, and then the radio keys the characters at the prescribed rate? Is this correct? I’m sorry to be so uninformed about it. No need for external keyers or any of that jazz for the 7300 and siblings. Just thought I would share these options for anyone trying to set computer keying up. A keyer-speed knob would be nice though! Thanks devs, this is fantastic software. 'out' sets the pin to be an output control, and 'in' an input control. Note that the pin number is the BCMGPIO number. Hopefully wfview’s rigctld will eventually get the option of sending cw, but this alternative works fine for now. During start up fldigi uses the gpio program to set up the gpio pins with the command gpio export NN out This is the command to export a GPIO pin in the /sys/class/gpio directory. Each transceiver would require a bidirectional audio interface, such as a low cost USB sound dongle. It can also be programmed to transfer email, formatted and pre-canned messages both in keyboard to keyboard and automatic mode. In my view, keying CW should be the responsibility of the logger anyway, so this works fine. Fldigi can run a multitude of digital modes including CW, PSK and Olivia. Note that “port number” there is for CQRLog’s version of rigctld, so can’t be the same as the rigctld port wfview is listening on. Settings here: Imgur: The magic of the Internet I am able to send CW on my IC-7300 with the following command: /usr/bin/rigctl -m 373 -r /home/pi/rig-pty1 b CQ However, it works fine if you use hamlib with wfview’s virtual serial port. Hamlib does this, but the "RigCtld emulation function of WFView does not appear to do this yet. This is good because it doesn’t rely on good timing by the computer, doesn’t tie up the serial port for more than a few milliseconds, and uses the rig’s keyer speed setting. FYI, CI-V on many radios permits sending CW with the rig’s keyer. But will they be strong enough to take on the deepest dungeons? Testing with realistic data will make your app more robust because you'll catch errors that are likely to occur in production before release day. Real data is varied and will contain characters that may not play nice with your code, such as apostrophes, or unicode characters from other languages. When you demonstrate new features to others, they'll understand them faster. When your test database is filled with realistic looking data, you'll be more engaged as a tester. Worse, the data you enter will be biased towards your own usage patterns and won't match real-world usage, leaving important bugs undiscovered. If you're hand-entering data into a test environment one record at a time using the UI, you're never going to build up the volume and variety of data that your app will accumulate in a few days in production. In production, you'll have an army of users banging away at your app and filling your database with data, which puts stress on your code. If you're developing an application, you'll want to make sure you're testing it under conditions that closely simulate a production environment. Gigapixel AI enjoys a clean, concise, and aesthetically pleasing interface which you’ll master in no time. In these cases, I found there just wasn’t enough detail left for Gigapixel AI to work with.īut so long as your expectations fall short of miraculous, Gigapixel AI is truly impressive and a night-and-day alternative to old-school image resizers. In contrast, Gigapixel AI will struggle with low-detail images – particularly those which suffer noise or, worse, crude detail-sapping noise reduction. And, of course, upscaling my 24-megapixel Nikon D750 images beyond 100 megapixels was a breeze. For instance, I had no problem enlarging my 6-megapixel Nikon D40 images to 600%. Gigapixel AI thrives when upscaling small but detailed images.
